This is a great example of breaking news. The University star got a lot of traction to their page because of this. A girl in my class was actually the one who found out the information and broke the story. It also sparked a lot of conversation on twitter. I can’t wait until the University responds.

This was a really cool story that I have seen circulating all over my social media timelines. I really like this story because I saw the original picture and RT it because the girl was so beautiful. It is very cool to see how social media can impact people’s lives.

Rep. Maxine Waters claps back at Bill O’Reilly after hair insult

Bill O’Reilly decided to comment on Representative Maxine Water’s hairstyle yesterday and people are not having it. O’Reilly said he could not concentrate on what she was saying because of her “James Brown wig.”  Representative Waters was discussing her disgust with the current presidency and how she will do her job to resist. After the comments, Representative Waters took to twitter and said ” I am a strong black woman. I cannot be intimidated, and I’m not going anywhere. #BlackWomenAtWork.” Hundreds of celebrities and black women have defended Representative Waters and commended her actions.

What We Know So Far About D.C.’s Missing Black and Latinx Teens

This is a great example of a multimedia story and a developing story. Essence has a video, social media posts, a photo gallery and links to other sites. The DMV is currently going through what some suspect is a human trafficking nightmare. Dozens of girls have gone missing, the police aren’t actively looking for them and they are being reported as runaways. This story is really hard to do because many news outlets are not covering it. Most information people are gaining is from social media or community sparked town halls.
