The articles posted by our classmates, which focus on women in technology, are very eye-opening. The gap between male and female is much larger than I originally anticipated. Initially I thought that it was a pipeline issue. The articles respond to this argument with an emphatic, “No!” It is more than that. It seems that history tends to repeat itself. When thinking about different fields of professionalism, it seems that there has always been a close-mindedness when in its beginning phases. When you think about athletics, at first only white males were allowed to participate. Police officers, was first only a job for males. In the beginning teachers were primarily females. It is going to take someone special to break through that glass ceiling, but fortunately for women that has already been done. It is not up to everyone else to follow in the footsteps of these great women and continue paving the way for others striving to follow in their footsteps.
